The class email is a great way to keep communication as this is more difficult during drop off and pick up. Mrs Morgan and Miss Hoare will check the email daily and respond as promptly as possible.

Welcome Buds to Year 2

Mrs Morgan will be teaching Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Miss Hoare will then teach Thursday afternoons and all day on Friday.

Our wonderful teaching assistants are; Mrs Mewton, Mrs Pippin, Mrs Pitt and Mrs Stephens.
  • Mrs D Morgan

  • Miss S Hoare

Our topic this term is 'What do I need to be me?'. Within Science we will be learning about animal babies, basic needs for survival, healthy eating, exercise and hygiene. Within Art we will be learning about portraits and experimenting with a range of materials.

Buds are fantastic artists! We have been exploring line, texture and colours using chalks, pencils, felt tip pens and pencils.
We have observed and drawn leaves, patchwork fields and trees.

Homework

Reading: This week your child will come home with a reading book, please read this book twice. Please bring your reading record to school every day. Children will now be changing their reading books on a Tuesday and a Friday. Please read the book in between these days, even reading it more than once will increase your child's fluency and comprehension of the text.

Spellings:
Spelling test will now take place every Monday. You will be able to find the spelling list here on the class page.  They will be uploaded every Monday for the following week. We will send home your spelling quiz scores in the back of your reading record. The quiz will include 8 spellings which follow the focus spelling rule and 2 common exception words.

Timetables:
Each week there will be a focus times table which will be displayed here on our class page. Timetables will be quizzed on a Friday and will be taught daily within the maths lesson. We will send home your multiplication quiz scores in the back of your reading record.  Each week there will be multiplication homework shared here in the homework section of our class page. You can either download the sheet to print and complete at home and/or you can practice the weekly times table focus online using:

Numbots
Children are also encouraged to use Numbots as part of their home learning. NumBots is an online game designed for boosting addition and subtraction skills. Playing little and often will significantly improve your child’s recall and understanding of number bonds and addition and subtraction facts. These are critical foundations in maths so we are excited by the impact NumBots will have. Certificates will be awarded weekly in school for each level achieved.
