    Buds Teacher Thurs-Fri

Welcome to Year 2.

The class teachers are Mrs Morgan and Mrs Saxton, Mrs Morgan teaches on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and Mrs Saxton teaches on Thursday and Friday all day. We are lucky to have Mrs Dyer  every morning our class Teaching Assistant and the support of Mrs Pippin and Miss Hutton for part of the morning.

In Buds, we create a positive and enjoyable learning environment through stimulating and creative topics. We encourage the children to be independent learners and follow the school ethos of 'Caring and Learning together'.

Each half term we focus our learning through a different topic, which starts with an exciting launch lesson to immerse the children in the theme. Our first topic is all about 'What I need to be me?' The children will be thinking about how we keep fit  and healthy and make the right choices? Pupils will find out about exercise and food that will help them to grow and keep healthy.

Spring term

During this term we learnt all about animals and their habitats with a particular focus on 'The Town Mouse and Country Mouse'. We wrote non-chronological reports about mice and then moved onto to describe the mouse in the story of the 'Gruffalo'. The children thoroughly enjoyed our art lessons where we looked at landscapes and cityscapes by famous artists. We then used their skills to recreate these pieces of work. You'll find some on display in the classroom. Can you guess the artist?

Summer Term 2017

This term we are learning all about 'Brazil'. We started our topic by enjoying a launch day we looked at Rio de Janeiro and what it's like there. We listened and created our own samba music and looked at Carnival in Rio. In English, we are writing letters to another child who lives in Rio, we are writing statements and question sentence types.

Coming soon! Samba dance workshop Tuesday 16th May

Educational Visit to 'The Eden Project' Wednesday 7th June

Reminder that the children will be taking their National Test Papers, please continue your homework given and work through the maths practise book.

Many thanks

Mrs Morgan and Mrs Saxton

What a fantastic day we all had at 'The Eden Project' we really felt like we had transported to Brazil in the tropical biome. Our favourite part was the canopy walkway and experiencing the clouds.
For our design and technology part of our topic we have created our very own tie dye t-shirts and masks to support either Brazil or the UK. Can you spot the supporters?
