Last week we launched our new topic 'Sowing and Growing' with a visit from Mr Dyer and his tractor. We also made gingerbread men. We are learning the story all about a mischievous gingerbread man. Our sugary, snack biscuits were delicious!

Welcome to Year 2.

The class teachers are Mrs Morgan and Mrs Saxton, Mrs Morgan teaches on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and Mrs Saxton teaches on Thursday and Friday all day. We are lucky to have Mrs Dyer  every morning our class Teaching Assistant.

In Buds, we create a positive and enjoyable learning environment through stimulating and creative topics. We encourage the children to be independent learners and follow the school ethos of 'Caring and Learning together'.

Each half term we focus our learning through a different topic, which starts with an exciting launch lesson to immerse the children in the theme.

During this term we will be learning all about animals and their habitats with a particular focus on 'The Town Mouse and Country Mouse'. We will write non-chronological reports about mice and move onto to describe other woodland characters. Our new class text shall be 'Hodgeheg'.

In this second part of the half term we are focusing our learning all about 'Sowing and Growing'. We will be learning about plants and the difference between seeds and bulbs. We are currently writing a traditional story all about a mischievous gingerbread man. This feisty biscuit doesn't hang around for long so watch out if you see him running around our school.

Reading is a huge focus in our class, our current text we are reading is all about 'Hansel and Gretel' by Anthony Brown. We have just found out how wicked the witch really is and we have used our acting skills to role play this character.

Our class assembly is fast approaching and we can't wait to share the wonderful learning that has been taking place.

 Many thanks

Mrs Morgan and Mrs Saxton
