Mrs Danielle Morgan
Assistant Headeacher/ KS1 Lead/Curriculum Lead/ PSHE Co-ordinator
My name is Danielle Morgan and I have been lucky enough to have worked here for 11 years, with a few absences whilst had my 3 children . This academic year you'll find me in school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays as I work part-time. My role this year is very different, I am fortunate enough to have non-class based time to implement new strategies for teaching and learning, ensure teachers receive subject leader time and work alongside teachers in the classroom. I will still be teaching mainly English in the mornings and Tuesday afternoons in Year 1.
One of my other roles is being responsible for PSHE throughout the school, more recently, can be seen bopping about in the hall on a Thursday morning for wake 'n' shake.
From a very young age all I've wanted to do is teach, it really stemmed from one inspirational teacher I had during my primary years. It is thanks to him, hard work and a supportive family that I am here today!
From school I went onto University and studied at the College of St Mark and St John and completed a BA hons degree in Sports Development and Geography. I completed my QTS for teaching 13years ago and have worked in a few schools within Cornwall.
I've worked at Chacewater since January of 2009, however within this time I've got married and had 2 boys, Ollie and Jenson who keep me busy whilst not at school. We spend a lot of our time going on walks, surfing, laughing and a lot of playing, most recently lego!
I am proud to be part of a fantastic school full of keen, dedicated pupils, teachers, governors and parents. I am looking forward to another exciting year ahead.
Mrs Claire James
Y5 Teacher/Kagan Lead /Staff Development Lead
My name is Claire James and I joined Chacewater Primary school in 2012, having moved back to Cornwall after many years away! I have been teaching for over twenty years (which is shocking when I think about it), mostly in the Bristol area where I was the Deputy Head of Paulton Junior School. Since graduating from Cardiff University with a BA in Education and Psychology I have never wanted to do anything else but teach; helping children to learn still gives me the same joy as when I first began. It has always been an inspiring profession and continues to be so.
I currently teach Year 5 pupils in the Red Oaks class. My aim is to provide the children with a varied and engaging curriculum, where they can develop as individuals as well as life long learners. I am particularly interested in art and maths. I lead 'Cooperative Learning' within the school: an approach which enables the children to use specific structures to support their teamwork skills. I also mentor students and Newly Qualified Teachers.
Having grown up in Cornwall it is fantastic to be able to give my own two boys the same experiences and freedom that I had as a young girl. It is also wonderful to be part of a close community, an added bonus to being a member of the Chacewater team.
When I am not working I like to spend time with my family, especially if it involves a beach trip. I also enjoy swimming, yoga, and running (and any activity that includes eating cake!)
Mr Mike Williams
Year 5 Teacher
Miss Shelley Hoare

My name is Shelley Hoare and I am so pleased to be continuing to teach at Chacewater school as a Year 4 Class teacher this year. I previously worked at Chacewater school as a Teaching Assistant and I was also a pupil at this fantastic school as a child. I trained to teach in Cheltenham, completing my BEd Hons in Primary Education in 2012. After this, I worked as a Nanny, Tutor, Teaching Assistant and now as a Primary School Teacher. I lead P.E at the school and when I'm not working, I enjoy paddle-board yoga, zumba and running.
This year I will be on maternity leave and Miss Laskowski will be taking over in Year 4.
Miss Sophie Laskowski
Year 4 teacher
Mrs Becca Ward
Year 3 Teacher/Computing and E-safety Coordinator
My name is Becca Meteyard, I am excited to be joining the Chacewater team and to be working with the lovely Year 3 children. I love trying to make all the lessons creative and exciting, basing the learning on the individual children's needs and interests. I am excited to get to know the children in year 3 and to support them with their learning journey.
Since I was a young girl I always dreamed of becoming a primary school teacher. I attended the University of St Marks and St Johns in Plymouth. Since graduating in 2014 with a Bed (hons) with a science specialism, I have been lucky enough to teach in every year group. I am pleased to be putting my science specialism to the test this year, as I am taking over the Science Coordinating role.
When I’m not at school I enjoy spending time in the beautiful Cornish landscape. You could often find me in the sea on a kayak or surfboard (not necessarily stood up!)
Mrs Callie Fox
Y2 Teacher / Maths Coordinator
My name is Callie Fox and I have been employed as a Teacher at Chacewater School since September 2012. I have spent the last 6 years in different classes within KS1 and feel so fortunate to have found such a fantastic and supportive school to work in.
I had always wanted to teach and after completing my BSc in Applied Psychology I decided to take the plunge and applied for a PGCE -since that moment I have never looked back!
Apart from 4 years at university I have lived in this beautiful county of Cornwall all my life with my husband and our cat Polly. Having recently returned from maternity leave after having my beautiful daughter Amelie, I now am working in Y2 job as part of a job share on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays which is a new and exciting venture for me.
When I am not working I enjoy running around after my daughter, long walks, exercise and eating at far too many seaside restaurants with family and friends.I also have a passion for travel and enjoy escaping to different destinations during the holidays.
Chacewater truly is a very special school and I feel lucky to be part of such a strong, friendly team of staff and governors.
Mrs Charlie Buckingham
Y2 teacher/Humanties coordinator
Mrs Kerry Rice
Foundation Teacher / Teacher Governor
I am Mrs Rice and am a teacher at Chacewater School, I'm really enjoying learning alongside the children in Year 1 and being part of such a dynamic team.
Before I came to Chacewater School I was a Learning Curator at the Tate in St Ives. I worked there for 20 years (I was one of the original members of staff) and really enjoyed sharing my love of art with families, children and teachers. Perhaps some of you might have been to Super Sunday or a beach workshop in the summer?
It has taken me a long time to get started on my teacher training! I did my degree part-time over 6 years whilst I was working and my children were young. I worked as a teaching assistant for a year to really make sure a school was where I wanted to be, and then was accepted as a trainee teacher at Chacewater School working with the Early Years and key stage 1 team.
I love the creativity and unexpected twists and turns the learning takes in the Reception year. The child-led learning keeps me on my toes and ensures every new year group of children bring a whole different set of exciting challenges.
Outside of school I enjoy being with my family and spending time with my friends.
Miss Laura Thomas
EYFS Lead and Teacher / School council lead
I am Laura Thomas and this year I have the privilege of teaching the wonderful ‘Acorns’ - reception class. This is a new adventure for me, as last year I was the Year 1 teacher! However,I am very excited for the new year ahead of me and to create a wonderful classroom environment with the child’s interest at the heart of what they learn. I am truly excited and looking forward to developing the children’s learning journeys in the next upcoming year in a practical, creative and engaging way.
Ever since I was a little girl, my dream was always to become a teacher. My dream finally crept closer in September 2012 when I finally took the plunge and started my BA (hons) degree in Education Studies. After a wonderful 3 years at Plymouth University, I decided to come home and broaden my educational knowledge by working in 2 local schools as a Teaching Assistant and completing my PGCE in Early Years Primary Teaching. I am very proud and fortunate in finding such a wonderful school to work in, with brilliant members of staff and such a community ethos.
When I am not in school I enjoy socialising with my friends, which mostly consists of going out for food. But I also enjoy spending time with my very close family and not to mention my little fur baby - my cat ‘Tilly’. I enjoy going to the gym and enjoying the beautiful countryside and beaches Cornwall has to offer.
