Eco @ Chacewater school

As a school we are committed to becoming more eco-friendly. We aim to do what we can in support of Cornwall Council’s declaration of a climate emergency. We are currently working towards becoming an ‘Eco School’. We have gained the Bronze Award and the Silver Award and hope to soon qualify for the main award, the Green Flag.

Our Eco Committee has been running since the summer term of 2018. It consists of Eco Ambassadors from years 1 to 6, as well as ex-pupils from Richard Lander School. The committee meets each half term and is supported by a small group of parents and staff. We also have close links with the Parish Council and Energy Group and we regularly invite local environmental organizations into the school to run workshops.

There are 10 major topics that we are focusing on through the Eco Schools process including marine, biodiversity, energy, litter, global citizenship, healthy living, school grounds, transport, waste and water. We link to these topics through our curriculum work and we also run an after school Eco Club. To find out more about the many wonderful things we have done so far please follow the link to our Eco Committee Newsletters.
