Our Vision
At Chacewater School, we believe that every child deserves the knowledge, skills and confidence to live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives. Our RSHE (PSHE) curriculum supports pupils to develop positive relationships, strong emotional wellbeing, respect for others and an understanding of their role within modern society.
Through a carefully planned and progressive curriculum, pupils learn how to stay physically and mentally healthy, build healthy relationships, keep themselves safe online and offline, and develop the resilience needed to flourish both in school and beyond.
Our Curriculum
We follow the Oak National Academy KS1 and KS2 RSHE (PSHE) Curriculum, which is fully aligned with statutory Relationships and Health Education requirements.
Our curriculum is:
- Knowledge-rich, ensuring pupils develop a secure understanding of key concepts and vocabulary.
- Carefully sequenced, building upon prior learning from Year 1 to Year 6.
- Inclusive and diverse, reflecting the experiences and backgrounds of all children and families.
- Accessible, enabling all pupils, including those with SEND, to succeed.
- Evidence-informed, drawing upon educational research and statutory guidance.
- Flexible – Teachers adapt examples and contexts to reflect the needs of pupils at Chacewater School whilst maintaining curriculum integrity.
Curriculum Threads
Learning is organised through five curriculum threads that run progressively from Year 1 to Year 6. These threads ensure pupils revisit and deepen their understanding of key concepts as they move through the school:
Community: Children learn about identity, belonging, diversity, equality, British Values and the importance of respecting different cultures and communities.
Relationships: Pupils develop their understanding of families, friendships, kindness, respect, personal boundaries, bullying prevention and healthy relationships, personal boundaries, consent, respect and how to seek help.
Online Safety: Children learn how to stay safe online, protect their personal information, recognise risks, think critically about digital content and become responsible digital citizens.
Wellbeing: Pupils explore emotions, mental health, physical health, healthy lifestyles, personal safety, risk management and strategies for building resilience.
Growing Up: Children learn about puberty, personal hygiene, physical and emotional development, adolescence and preparation for transition to secondary school.

Preparing Children for the Future
Our RSHE curriculum plays a vital role in safeguarding and personal development. It helps children understand how to seek support when needed, recognise healthy and unhealthy relationships, manage challenges positively and make safe choices.
By the time pupils leave Chacewater School, they are equipped with the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to become respectful, responsible and resilient members of their community and to successfully transition to secondary education.
