Mighty Oaks - Y6

Welcome to Mighty Oaks

Our teachers are Mrs James and Mrs Law. We are supported by Mrs Hoadley.

We believe that working cooperatively with others is the key to learning. We always aim high but also know that making mistakes is sometimes the best way to move forward. Our class environment is one that promotes fun, kindness and team spirit and we like nothing more than a challenge.

We are very excited to see where our learning will take us this year: meeting the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings; exploring the circulatory and respiratory system; learning all about Darwin and evolution as well as the impact on the lives of Victorian children due to the Industrial Revolution. Who knows where we may end up!

Please see the curriculum overview attached to find out what we are learning.

What Are We Learning?
Below you can find an overview of our learning for the whole year and also more detail for each term and the sequence which we will follow to help build our knowledge in each subject.
We use our Knowledge Organisers to help us identify key information that we need to know and remember.

Reading - Children should read at home for 30 minutes daily as part of their homework.

Maths fluency- Children have a weekly arithmetic or times tables focus which is rehearsed each day in school and quizzed on a Friday.  Children can practice maths fluency on  TTRockstars.

Spelling - children have a list of spellings to learn at home each week. We rehearse these in school each day and quiz on them on Fridays.

Weekly Maths/SPAG - Homework will be given out on a Friday, to then be handed in the following Friday
